Rentview is the brain child of Colin Napper and Andreas Riha. Rentview began originally as a proprerty management tool, developed by Colin and Andreas two former Letting Agents based in Dublin. Over the last three years we have listened intently to our customers and we have used this feedback to constantly improve our product and evolve. Rentview now connects renters, agents and landlords whilst providing an innovative management, marketing and accounts service.

Founded in January of 2011, with offices based in Dublin and London, Rentview is a rent and property management platform for the letting industry and is a trusted marketplace for letting agents, property managers, landlords and renters to manage their rental portfolio. Rentview allows agents to manage, build and retain their rental portfolio; helping to streamline and automate tasks.

Landlords can access important information shared by their agents through Rentview; thus helping improve the overall customer service experience. For tenants, Rentview speeds up the letting process by giving tenants the opportunity to set up a tenant profile and application form, so they can share access quickly with agents.

Founders background

Rentview roots are woven deep into the sacred soil of north Dublin. The seeds for this endeavour were first planted when two friends decided that the root to success and inner contentment, for them, could be found only by pursuing their goal to start their own Letting Agency.

After 2 years in business, with their work load expanding they decided that so too, must their work space. They secured a humble first floor office on Dorset Street in Dublin. From here the company really began to blossom, with the continued retention of landlords and the acquisition of new business in a steady climb this young sapling once again needed more space to flourish.

So, inevitably in 2011 Dublin Letting moved to its current premises in the newly regenerated Smithfield area on the banks of the river Liffey in the hearth Dublin City. With the new offices came new challenges, like how to manage payments, queries, viewings, research references, organise tasks and viewings, in what was now one of Dublins largest property portfolios. Time was a commodity that even the hiring of 8 full time staff could not satisfy. To their frustration they found that no compatible software was available to them, so, it was decided that the only way to overcome this obstacle was to develop a software system which would specifically suit the everyday needs of an agency and its clients, be they landlords or tenants. It is from here that the first buds of Rentview began to blossom.

Rentview Development roadmap

With the aim of simplifying everyday tasks and adding transparency and accountability to the Lettings Industry a process of liaising with client and potential users began. From this and their own hands on experiences in the industry an MVP (minimum viable product) was developed and tested with a number of local letting agents.

In November 2011, using their new Beta product, for the first time they could now manage their portfolio of over 600 lets per annum, upsell more landlords to full property management, view accounts and payments and connect utilities all with the aid of just one tool.

In the spring of 2012 Rentview flourished as it launched its first version onto the open market and signed up its first customers in Ireland. Buoyed by positive feedback, it was decided to add the tools to allow prospective tenants to create profiles and upload references which could be shared and verified quickly by landlords. Thus reshaping how interaction between landlords, agents and tenants would be conducted in Ireland while allowing for an overall quicker and more transparent agreement. This was all done before the leaves were on the ground in that same year.

At the same time it was decided that the time had come to sell Dublin Letting. The two friends were now 100% available to water and nurture their already prospering Rentview business.

By spring of the following year and well on its way to becoming a mighty oak, Rentview provided solace to 10% of the Irish market and had moved its headquarters to The Dublin Dockland, the lifeblood of the city and centre for white collar industry. Situated on the periphery of The Liffey Estuary its enigmatic team of developers, marketing, sales and customer service now sit in their shiny new office, looking out far beyond the Irish Sea to where Rentviews branches have spread to London in the UK where they are implementing their fresh new approach to managing rental properties.

In 2014 we decided to focus on helping Renters who were beginning the process of looking for a property. We spoke to hundreds of renters and observed the trends in the lettings market and built what we believe is a software platform which renters can use to get rental properties faster by connecting with local agents.
